What makes a good pitch

Send a focused proposal with a working title, the central question, the main points you would cover and why the subject will be useful beyond a single news cycle. We are interested in accurate, readable explanations with a distinct angle, a clear sense of audience and examples that do not depend on unsupported claims.

A careful, clear approach

Strong contributions explain unfamiliar terms, separate established facts from interpretation and treat football's many levels and communities with care. Please disclose relevant interests and identify any sources or permissions the piece would depend on. We do not consider pitches built around undisclosed promotion.
